The Cluizel family uses premium raw material suppliers and is committed to production and innovation linked to the origin and processing of the cocoa beans used. Together with their suppliers, they develop chocolate with aromatic profiles and unique provenance. The relationship with the farmer, the soil and the growing area is central. The aim is to achieve perfect alchemy based on respect, knowledge, yield and, not least, love of cocoa.
Since 1997, Cluizel has focused on developing direct agreements with recognised cocoa plantations for fair and sustainable trade. From the Dominican Republic to Madagascar and Mexico, Michel Cluizel's passionate cocoa enthusiasts are constantly on the lookout for distant new flavours.
Plantation-specific chocolate
Our range includes two varieties of Michel Cluizel's plantation-specific chocolates. The cocoa used in these chocolates is from each specific plantation, where the high quality of the cocoa beans and their perfect roasting produce exquisite and pure flavours. Tasting them together, you'll notice that each one offers a distinct personality and flavour profile that exudes the aromatic potential of the plantation.
From Guatemala comes La Laguna, a chocolate with 70 % cocoa and very distinctive notes of yellow fruit, with notes of plums and roasted cocoa, to which are added generous notes of apples cooked in butter and liquorice. From Brazil comes Riachuelo, also with 70 % cocoa, with flavours of roasted cocoa, dried fruit and red fruit, mingling with acidic notes and chocolatey caramel.

Pure ingredients
Cluizel chocolate guarantees the best quality raw materials. The cocoa used is mainly Criollo and Trinitario and the recipes consist of pure cocoa butter, real bourbon vanilla and cane sugar. They are made with no artificial additives or flavourings, are GMO-free, soy lecithin-free and have full traceability on all ingredients. These criteria form the basis of their Noble certification, which focuses on pure ingredients.

At Solberg & Hansen, we have a fondness for other companies that also focus on their raw materials, where processes and quality are just as valued as traceability and ethical trade. With this in mind, we have chosen chocolate from this family business and carry both their plantation-specific chocolate, chocolate pellets and pure cocoa.
