There are many iced coffee variants that are easy to make at home. Most beverages contain no more than two or three ingredients, and it's up to you how advanced you want to make them. If you don't have an espresso machine, you can brew an espresso-like brew with a mocha pot or AeroPress. We give you our basic recipes for some simple iced drinks based on espresso. Try them out and cool down with your favourite iced coffee this summer.
Affogato - espresso over ice cream

Affogato means "drowned" in Italian and is a coffee-based Italian dessert. It's as easy to make as it is satisfying to eat.
You need:
- god vanilla ice cream
- double espresso
Pour a double espresso over one to two scoops of vanilla ice cream in the glass/cup of your choice, grab a teaspoon and enjoy.
Tip: This tastes delicious as it is, but if you want to add something, whipped cream, grated chocolate, grated citrus peel, liquorice or caramel are good options. However, keep it as simple as possible so that the essence of the Affogato is not lost.

Espresso Tonic - fresh espresso meets sparkling tonic water

Espresso Tonic is a tantalising coffee drink and a sophisticated thirst quencher. It's also easy to make.
You need:
- a double espresso
- 1-2 cl sugar brine or 1/2-1 teaspoon white sugar (can be omitted)
- isbiter
- tonic water
Pour a double shot of espresso into a shaker along with the brine/sugar (can be omitted). Shake well. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice cubes. Top with your favourite tonic water. Taste until you achieve the desired mixing ratio.
You can also serve the glass with the bottle on the side and let your guests top up the glass to their taste.
Coffee recommendation for Espresso Tonic: Tade Espresso, a fresh espresso with notes of sweet citrus.
Con panna al freddo - espresso roasted with cream and sugar

A velvety smooth and satisfying coffee drink with ice-cold elegance and a high wow factor.
You need:
- 10-12 large ice cubes
- 1 double espresso
- 2 cl sugar brine
- A little cream
- 2 shakers, one for coffee and one for cream
Place the ice cubes, sugar brine and pre-brewed espresso in a shaker. Shake the espresso and ice vigorously and pour over a glass of ice cubes. Top with cream that you've shaken (or whipped) to a fluffy but still liquid consistency. Slowly pour it onto the top ice cube to create a layered drink.
Tip: As a garnish, sprinkle with a little espresso ground coffee, cocoa powder or grated nutmeg. Alternatively, you can squeeze some orange zest over it for extra flavour.

Recipe for a simple ice latte

The iced latte is a popular coffee classic that can be made in several ways. You can pour espresso and milk straight into a glass with ice cubes, or you can use a shaker. You can also run it through the blender with ice cubes for a creamier iced latte.
Here's our simplest recipe.
You need:
- single or double espresso
- Desired type of milk*
- isbiter
- possibly sugar brine or white/brown sugar
Pour the desired amount of espresso into a glass filled with ice cubes. Top with the amount of milk you want. Or vice versa, milk first and then espresso, for a more layered effect (see picture). If you're using sugar, stir this into the espresso first. If you're using a shaker, pour the espresso and sugar into a shaker filled with ice and shake well before straining over a glass of fresh ice cubes and topping with milk.
*Use oat milk or other plant milk instead of regular milk for a sweeter flavour. Then you can skip the sugar.
Tip: It's up to you to decide how much milk you want and what additives you want. Instead of sugar, you can also use other types of sweetener.
Coffee recommendations for iced lattes: Brazil Barreiro Espresso for a sweet and intense espresso of berry-dried coffee beans or our classic Half & Half.
Shakerato - espresso roasted with ice cubes

In all its simplicity, Shakerato is one of the best, freshest and most tantalising things you can serve on a fine summer's day.
You need:
- double espresso (for example Half and Half)
- 1/2 teaspoon of white sugar
- isbiter
Make a double espresso and stir in half a teaspoon of white sugar. Fill a shaker with 8-10 ice cubes and add the espresso. Shake well before straining into a glass with ice cubes.
Coffee recommendations: Planadas Espresso for a juicy espresso with hints of cherry or Tade Espresso for a fresh espresso with notes of sweet citrus.
