Coffee shouldn't just taste good, it should do good. At Solberg & Hansen, we do what we can - all the way from bean to cup. As a coffee and tea drinker, you can help make a difference. Here are our top tips on what you can do:
select speciality coffee
At Solberg & Hansen, we buy high-quality speciality coffee directly from farmers all over the world. We pay well for this quality so that the farmers can repeat the process and we can offer coffee drinkers new, outstanding batches of coffee year after year.
Our coffee is also roasted with fossil-free biopropane, nitrogen-flushed for longer shelf life and, not least, packed in recyclable bags.
DON'T WASTE PRECIOUS RAW MATERIALS
Coffee from Solberg & Hansen is grown, picked, sorted, processed and packaged by hand.
There are two coffee beans in every coffee berry that is picked. There are approximately 2,000 coffee beans in a 250 gram coffee bag. That's 1,000 hand-picked coffee berries per coffee bag.
Remember to use up every single coffee bean when brewing coffee.
COFFEE AND TEA BAGS IN MONO PLASTIC
By 2025, all our bags will be made of only one type of plastic: monoplast.
This means that the bags can more easily be recycled and turned into new products. The first monoplast bags are already in production, but it's important for us to use up the bags we have to avoid unnecessary waste.
BIODEGRADABLE PYRAMID BAGS
Pyramid tea bags from Solberg & Hansen are 100 % biodegradable. Both the envelope and the pyramid bag are made of biodegradable material.
The tea bag can be disposed of in food waste and the rest of the packaging can be disposed of in paper waste.
SWEETS AND CHOCOLATE
Our boxes of chocolate and sweets are packed in thin plastic packaging, which is then packed in a box of grey paper. When the last chocolate has been eaten, you simply recycle paper and plastic separately.
REUSE OF GIFT BOXES AND SHIPPING BOXES
If you get a gift box from Solberg & Hansen for Christmas, you can easily recycle it as waste paper or reuse it.
Both our gift boxes and shipping boxes are great to reuse for new gifts or to send parcels in the post.
