Since 1948, Michel Cluizel has been exploring and experimenting with cocoa beans from the world's best growing areas. For three generations, the Cluizel family has developed their business with a love of the raw material. They are one of the very few independent chocolate producers in the world, representing something unique in the industry with traceable and farmhouse chocolate.

With passion for the raw material

The Cluizel family uses first-class raw material suppliers and is committed to production and innovation linked to the origin and processing of the cocoa beans used. Together with their suppliers, they develop chocolate with aromatic profiles and unique provenance. Central to this is the relationship with the farmer, the soil and the growing area. The aim is to achieve perfect alchemy based on respect, knowledge, yield and, not least, love of cocoa.

Since 1997, Cluizel has focused on developing direct agreements with reputable cocoa plantations for fair and sustainable trade. From the Dominican Republic to Madagascar and Mexico, passionate cocoa enthusiasts from Michel Cluizel are constantly in search of distant, new flavors.

Plantation-specific chocolate

In our range, we have three varieties of Michel Cluizel's plantation-specific chocolate: "Tablettes Plantations". The cocoa used in these chocolates are each from a specific plantation, where the high quality of the cocoa beans and the perfect roasting of the beans result in exquisite and pure flavors. Tasting them together, you'll notice that each one offers a distinct personality and flavor profile that exudes the aromatic potential of the plantation.

From the Dominican Republic comes Los Anconès, an organic chocolate with 67% cocoa that tastes dark and clean with strong notes of cocoa, hints of blackcurrant and a slight hint of licorice. From Mexico comes organic Mokaya, with 66% cocoa and rich notes of dried fruit. Madagascar grows Mangaro, a beautifully balanced fresh chocolate with notes of citrus and exotic fruit, and 65% cocoa.

Pure ingredients

Cluizel chocolate guarantees the best quality of raw materials. The cocoa used is mainly Criollo and Trinitario and the recipes consist of pure cocoa butter, real bourbon vanilla and cane sugar. They are made without artificial additives or flavorings, are GMO-free, soy lecithin-free and have full traceability on all ingredients. These criteria form the basis of their Noble certification, which focuses on pure ingredients.

At Solberg & Hansen, we have a penchant for other companies that also focus on the raw materials, where processes and quality are just as important as traceability and ethical trade. With this in mind, we have chosen chocolate from this family business and carry their plantation-specific chocolate, chocolate pellets and pure cocoa.

We also have other delicious chocolate experiences to offer. Have you tried the dark chocolate bar with orange pieces, or how about the milk chocolate with a hint of salted caramel? For Easter, we have a limited selection of chocolate balls: colorful almond chocolate and chocolate pralines with hazelnut kernels. Just click them into your mailbox and enjoy pure chocolate happiness.
