Like caffeine-powered editions of Asbjørnsen and Moe, we've spent the spring traveling across the country in search of the nation's most refreshing recipes. The result is a magazine filled with ice-cold elegance, signed by skilled baristas from south to north. Over the summer, we'll be filling the journal with the coffee shops' summer favorites, while the printed magazine will soon be distributed around the country. Here is the first ice cube of the Norway map, composed by Jovialen at Strømsø Torg by the train station in Drammen.

For example, enjoy a "Jovialen Driver" while you:

Dip your feet in the water at Holmennokken, a little gem in the middle of the Drammen river. The charming islet offers lovely green areas, a jetty, sandy beach and a fishing spot. Holmennokken is also part of the festival area during the Elve Festival in August.

Timber and guardian angels

Petroglyphs show that as early as 6000-7000 years ago, people were already enjoying the benefits of Drammen. The city takes its name from the Drammensfjord, known in Viking times as "Drofn", which means "waves". According to Snorri's King's Sagas from 1070, it was here that King Olav the Holy hid from Knut the Mighty. Saint Halvard, who later became the guardian angel of Oslo, ended his days in the Drammensfjord in 1043. Drammen was created by timber, and the Drammenselva river saw extensive timber trade with the Netherlands and Denmark as early as the 13th century. The Drammensvassdraget was used for timber rafting, while sawmills were built at the waterfalls. The town was founded on June 19, 1811, when the towns of Bragenes and Stømsø were merged to form the market town of Drammen.
